The Sound Waves Reversing

Today was great. I was able to sleep in since my Intro to Linguistics class was cancelled. The professor was going to Pennsylvania to attend some linguistics conference. I also chatted online with my friend Rich about his move back to the area from Mn.

Dialectology was good today. The linguist from NY who is working in the area on Appalachian English (AE) gave a talk to our class. She had a nice handout and some interesting insight. I have to do some sort of project for the class- either field work or analysis of audio tapes from the archives here. I think it would be neat to do a project on multiple negatives. I'm not sure what sort of project I can do on that though.

My CWL class is meeting today. The instructor won't be here again. However, the department secretary told me that she was coming up at the start of the clas to give instructions to the class. She said the instructor was recovering and doing much better.

Julie's coming up this afternoon and I think we are goingto Misaki's for dinner. What a beautiful day. Bonus: right now, jammming to the Man or Astroman? album Experiment Zero in the English computer lab.
